Malaysia Poised To Become Regional Gateway For Logistics, Delivery Services

SUBANG JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has the right characteristics to become a regional logistics and delivery services gateway, said Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari. "This is because of our country's strategic location, steady economic growth, good regional linkages and strong transport infrastructure. "In the Budget 2017, the government has given emphasis on Internet-economy which is a catalyst to online businesses, as delivery service is a major contributor to its operation," he said. Jailani said this after witnessing the signing of partnership agreement among M Express Sdn Bhd, SkyNet Worldwide Express as well as BOXiT Holdings Sdn Bhd here Wednesday. He said the country's postal and delivery services were forecast to handle one billion packages yearly by 2025. "Currently, we are handling about 200 million packages via over 100 local postal and delivery companies licensed by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission. "I urge local companies to improve their speed, quality and response time as more and more people are buying through the Internet and price is no longer the only factor in choosing their preferred postal companies," he said. --BERNAMA
