Malaysian Cities Urged To Organise Design Month To Attract Foreign Tourists

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur mayor Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz proposed that a Design Month be held in other cities in Malaysia to promote the respective cities' unique art and design. He said as per the Kuala Lumpur Design Month (KUL Design Month) being held in the capital every October, local authorities (PBT) could also adopt the same idea to attract more foreign tourists. "As Kuala Lumpur has often been the benchmark for other local authorities, I therefore recommend that other cities like Ipoh for example, organise an 'Ipoh Design Month'," he said at KUL 2016 Design Month Appreciation Ceremony here, Monday. KUL Design Month held throughout the month of October aims to provide a knowledge sharing platform on design transformation including architectural, engineering, landscape and interior designs which are actively happening in the capital city. Among interesting events organised during KUL Design Month are photography competition, Kuala Lumpur heritage trail, building design competition, exhibitions and seminars. --BERNAMA
