Malaysian Public Servants Must Change Attitude In Line With Technology - Ali Hamsa
MELAKA (Malaysia), Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Public servants should take the opportunity to make necessary changes to their working attitude and interact more with the people in line with the latest technological developments said Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government Dr Ali Hamsa.
He said civil servants must make fundamental changes to meet the people's expectations which was different compared to the past by cultivating innovative ideas when executing their respective tasks.
"Thus, we need to be more sensitive and responsive to the needs of the people because there is no point being innovative if they are not suitable or not being commercialised in line with what the customers required from us.
"Being innovative and creative in the way we deliver our service is no longer a choice but of utmost necessity as the country's ability and capacity to innovate is the drive for the growth of the nation's economic prosperity," he said, here on Tuesday.
He said this when officiating the Public Service Innovation Recognition Ceremony 2016 at Melaka International Trade Centre which was also attended by Public Service Department director-general Mohamad Zabidi Zainal and MAMPU director-general Zainal Rahim Seman.
Themed 'Innovation Strengthened, Commercialization Elevated' it was organised in line with the 11th Malaysia Plan to re-engineer economic growth through innovation.
Ali said the innovation was expected to lead the way to prosperity among the people and will only happen if the innovation initiative was to be commercialised and subsequently practiced to improve the quality of service especially in the public sector.
"The public service today is facing constantly changing situations and the government is committed to provide the best services to the people through creative approach, suitable and cost effective initiatives," he said.
The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) is one of the prominent government agencies in Malaysia which is responsible for 'modernising and reforming' the public sector.
