Malaysians Urged To Donate To Flood Victims In Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) - The public and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have been urged to donate money and food for the Malaysian humanitarian aid mission for flood victims in Thailand. Mission coordinator Latt Shariman Abdullah said the mission coordinated by the Prime Minister's Office will send food and mineral water to Thailand via Bukit Kayu Hitam on Friday. "The mission will work with local authorities in Thailand to deliver food and drinks to be distributed in Bangkok and other areas hardest hit by floods," Latt who is also the Prime Minister's special affairs officer told a press conference at parliament lobby here on Thursday. The Malaysian government has donated and US$1mil (RM3.15 mil) to Thailand to help flood victims and sent over 1,000 cartons of drinking water in a container on Oct 30 via Hatyai. On possibility of floods in Malaysia, he said Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will chair the National Security Council meeting soon to discuss preparation. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
