Malaysia's MITI Signs Corruption-Free Pledge With MACC

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) - Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) today engaged in a proactive initiative to become the first ministry to sign the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) with the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). MITI, in a statement on Monday, said the move was in line with the national mission and vision towards moulding a country clean of corruption and abuse of power. "It's a commitment to oneself in upholding a religious mandate to mould and lead a better life," the statement said. The signing of the pledge was carried out by MITI secretary-general J.Jayasiri and witnessed by MACC deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Shamsun Baharin Mohd Jamil at the MITI Tower, here. According to Jayasiri, in addition to trying to increase investment and the country's competitiveness, his vision was to create a strong organisational governance, high integrity and deterring immoral acts such as corruption. -- BERNAMA
