MAPIM Strategic Director Sani Arabi Abd Halim said the humanitarian situation in the region was most critical currently and the number of refugees had reached 80,000 and in dire need of food and medicine.
"We publicise the aid contribution for victims of the conflict through the Maybank account in the name of Syria Emergency Appeal Dana MAPIM, 5628 3463 6987," he told the media before departing for Syria, here Monday.
"Within five days of the launch of the Rescue Syria emergency aid fund in the social media it managed to collect a total of US$111,669 (RM500,000)," he added.
Sani, who led the mission to send aid to Aleppo with three others, said the total fund collected however was still far below the target needed which was US$446,677 (RM2 million).
