Margumis River To Be Processed As Drinking Water

Lumbanlobu, North Sumatra, Jan 13 (ANTARA) - Margumis River of Lumbanlobu Village, Bonatua Lunasi sub-district, Toba Samosir region, North Sumatra will be processed as a drinking water source to 1,500 residents. "The water quality of Margumis River is good enough and feasible to be processed as a source of drinking water in order to facilitate the citizens of clean water," said Secretary of Bonatua Lunasi sub-district Hendra Butarbutar in Lumbanlobu, Friday. He said, the proposal of Margumis River Drinking Water Project has been delivered to Toba Samosir Board of Development Plan and estimated will be started as soon as possible. According to Sibutarbutar, there was three sub-districts which are also giving proposals of the same project to facilitate citizens of clean water. Those are Sigumpar sub-district, Uluan sub-district and Lumbanlobu sub-district. "The budget for each development is approximately reach four billions rupiah," said Sibutarbutar. "Lumbanlobu citizens are lucky enough because Margumis River is the first priority to be nominated, so the project will be started soon," he said. Sibutarbutar said, all this time, the villagers of Pardolog, Lumbanlobu and Partoruan in Lumbanlobu sub-district took the water of Margumis River as their drinking water, but not yet completed categorized for worthy consumed processing. The villagers, mostly farmers, lived around Margumis River that flows along the three villages, also used the water for irrigation for around 50 ha of farmland.
