MAS Is Hopeful Search For MH370 Will Resume If There Is New Lead

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), March 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) remains hopeful that the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which vanished three years ago, will resume should the investigation team become aware of any credible lead.
A statement issued on behalf of MAS by Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) on Wednesday said the airline had worked very closely with the Malaysian Safety Investigation team and given its full cooperation.
"As always, we stand guided by any decision made by all three governments involved in the investigation and search," said MAS.
Flight MH370 carrying 239 passengers and crew disappeared from the radar while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014.
Its final flight path was believed to have ended in the southern Indian Ocean.
On July 22 last year, the ministerial tripartite meeting involving Malaysia, Australia and China agreed to the suspension of the search for Flight MH370 after the initial search scouring an area of 120,000 sq km failed to locate the missing aircraft.
MAS together with MAB today held a private remembrance ceremony at the KL International Airport (KLIA) in memory of MH370, which was attended by the airline’s employees as well as family members of the 13 staff onboard.
The event honoured the memory of the 13 staff and crew members with a prayer, a minute of silence as well as a video tribute to former colleagues.
MAS in the statement restated its commitment to keep next-of-kins (NOKs) informed of developments and information updates relating to the MH370.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy," it said. (photoBERNAMA)
