More than 100 government officials to be charged with corruption
BANGKOK, April 4 (TNA) - Thai Justice Minister General Paiboon Khumchaya says he plans to submit the first lot of more than 100 names of government officials who are alleged of involving in corruption to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha so that both disciplinary and criminal charges will be lodged against those who are later found guilty.
General Paiboon told journalists of the plan, after chairing an anti-corruption meeting at Bangkok's Government House on Friday (Apr 3), during which authorities concerned discussed on government officials allegedly involving in corruption.
According to the justice minister, the prime minister will sign an approval in removing senior government officials, while an approval for removing junior officers will be made by direct supervisors of the accused.
The justice minister stressed that the names of officials allegedly involving in corruption have been closely monitored and examined by agencies concerned, including the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission. (TNA)
