By Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa BANGKOK, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Thailand has handed over the list of people who are allegedly holding dual citizenship to Malaysia as both countries stepped up efforts to deal with the issue, said Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, Friday. The Thai Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Defence Minister said, both countries had set up a joint working committee on the matter as part of a joint initiatives to solve the problem. "We (Malaysia and Thailand) already set up a joint working committee on the matter and it will be more clear and concrete on what we will do with dual citizenship people." "We (Thailand) already handed over a list of dual citizenship people to Malaysia," he told media at the Government House here, adding that cooperation between both countries on security issues had progressed well. The issue of people holding dual citizenship was discussed during Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's working visit to Thailand in August. Ahmad Zahid had also asked Thailand to furnish the list of those alleged of holding dual citizenship, along with their bio-metric records for verification. The issue was also discussed during the 6th Annual Consultation between both countries in Bangkok in September, as well as the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month. On proposal to build border wall along the Malaysia-Thailand's common border, Prawit said, both sides had also agreed to set up a joint committee to look deeper into the proposal. He said the border wall would most probably be constructed on the border areas which are inaccessible to border patrols. -- BERNAMA
