Muslims In Pattani Hold Special Prayers For Rohingyas

PATTANI, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- About 5,000 Muslims here held special prayers to pray that the the prosecution of the the Rohingyas in Rakhine, Myanmar are stopped. The prayers held at the Masjid Jamek Pattani were led by the president of the Pattani District Muslim Religious Council Waederamae Matmingchik, who also recited the Qunut Nazilah. After the prayers, the organisers issued a statement asking that the atrocities against the Muslim Rohingyas be stopped and asked that they be accorded citizenship by the Myanmar government. The statement also said ASEAN should play its role in resolving the bloodshed in Myanmar quickly to prevent the situation being exploited by extremist groups. -- BERNAMA
