Over 1,500 medical personnel to take care for ‘Bike for Dad’ cyclists
BANGKOK, Dec 6 (TNA) -- More than 1,500 medical personnel along with ambulances will be posted along Bangkok roads on December 11 when the ‘Bike for Dad’ cyclists ride their bicycles in celebration for His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday which fell on Saturday.
Dr Supan Srithamma, director-general of Public Health Ministry’s Medical Services Department, said volunteer doctors were briefed early Sunday where they would be posted and provide medical care to the cyclists participating in the event.
Dr Supan said he was personally concerned over the cyclists’ safety as they have to ride pass several steep routes, especially over the Rama VIII Bridge which is very steep and cyclists have to use a lot of energy.
Cyclists will have to slow down their bicycles on their way down from the bridge which crosses the Chao Phraya River in order to prevent an accident from occurring, said Dr Supan.
Those who do not have enough energy, especially elderly people, should stop their bikes on the left lane immediately and ask for help from officials.
Participants should take their meal at least two hours and take an exercise before they start riding the bicycle, Dr Supan recommended. They should also stop riding immediately if they know they do not have enough strength. (TNA)
