Over 3m Tourists Visited Iran Last Year : Official

Shahrekord, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Prov, March 25, IRNA – An official said Monday that over three million tourists traveled to Iran during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2013). Deputy head of Iranˈs Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Manouchehr Jahanian told IRNA that the figure shows 32 percent increase compared with the same period the preceding year. He further said the statistics indicated that propaganda spread out by the enemies against Iran have been ineffective. About the nationalities of the tourists, he said the majority of them were from India, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, UAE and Kuwait. He noted that Iran enjoys great tourist attractions./end
