Peerlessly Great Men's Feats for Building Militia Forces

Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- Respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said in his New Year Address that members of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards and Young Red Guards should prepare themselves politically and militarily and maintain full combat readiness. In the DPRK, the Worker-Peasant Red Guards, together with the Korean People's Army, is the revolutionary armed forces of the Workers' Party of Korea which reliably defends the socialist country. President Kim Il Sung, in his early years, hewed out the unique road of building the revolutionary militia forces, setting a good example. On January 14, Juche 48 (1959), he formed the Worker-Peasant Red Guards (WPRG) and constantly strengthened the militia forces, providing a sure guarantee for defending socialism. Leader Kim Jong Il worked heart and soul to develop the militia forces during the protracted period of his Songun (military-first) revolutionary leadership. And he led the WPRG and other militia forces to successfully carry forward the tradition created in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle and took necessary measures ranging from weapons to uniforms and bedclothes.
