Doha, August 18 (QNA) - The Peninsula newspaper highlights Wednesday Qatar's progress in the 2020 Global Youth Development Index (YDI) issued by The Commonwealth Association, that measures the status of young people in 181 countries around the world, ranking second in the Arab world and 32nd globally. In this regard, the English-language newspaper referred to the statement of HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, in which he expressed his pride of the youth energies in Qatar saying that "the achievement is the fruit of the efforts exerted by the youth in the service of their society and their homeland and their active participation in youth centers and sports clubs." The paper explained that Qatars progress in the index was a fruit of the social youth movement as a result of the strategic steps taken by the authorities such as the election of the Youth Advisory Committee for the Minister of Culture and Sports, which represents the voice of youth in the proposal initiative making them part of the decision making process. The Peninsula indicated that over the years, Qatar has developed itself as a hub for world sports through hosting several international sports events and tournament and the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The newspaper added that the Generation Amazing legacy program organized by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has been instrumental in making tangible changes in the life of hundreds of thousands of young men and women not only in Qatar, but across the world especially in the less developed countries. The Peninsula concluded its editorial by saying that several programs being conducted under the aegis of Qatar Foundation such as Reach Out to Asia have achieved revolutionary development in the life of thousands of young people.
