PM Najib Looking Forward To India Visit, Modi Extends Welcome

From Sh Nur Shahrizad Sy Mohamed Sharer CHENNAI, March 30 (Bernama) -- The close rapport between Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi was clearly reflected on Wednesday, when both leaders exchanged Twitter postings, prior to Najib's five-day official visit to India, beginning Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, Najib tweeted on his upcoming visit to India and that he looked forward to meeting Modi again. "I'll be travelling to India for a five-day visit. A country that's been our friend since 1957. "Looking forward to meeting PM (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi again," he said, tagging Modi in his posting. Soon after, Modi replied to the posting, saying that India would be delighted to welcome Najib to the country, adding that his counterpart's visit would further boost relation between both countries. "India is delighted to welcome you, Prime Minister. Your visit will further boost India-Malaysia ties," he said. Najib will undertake a five-day official visit to India that will also take him to New Delhi and Jaipur. The prime minister and wife, Rosmah Mansor are scheduled to arrive here Thursday and will spend two days in the capital of Tamil Nadu, where Najib, among others is scheduled to meet the Acting Governor of Tamil Nadu, Vidhyasagar Rao and its Chief Minister, Edappadi Palaniswamy. Najib is also expected to use the opportunity to hold dialogue sessions with the Malaysian community, including students. This will be Najib's third visit to India since assuming office as prime minister in 2009. His maiden visit to India was in January 2010 and again in December 2012 to attend the ASEAN India Commemorative Summit. Modi's official visit to Malaysia was in November 2015 at Najib's invitation. --BERNAMA
