PM:Thailand has done the best for solutions to alleged human trafficking

BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha insists that his government has done the best against human trafficking over the past year and he is not concerned over this year's Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP), set to be released by the US State Department on July 27, 2015. The Thai prime minister, who is also Chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), stressed on Wednesday that over the past year, his interim government has fully tried to combat human trafficking-related problems, including strictly implementing working plans on systematic solutions, prosecution against suspected human traffickers and preventive measures, with a number of suspects having been arrested. The prime minister pointed out that alleged human trafficking in Thailand is a persistent problem. Thailand was downgraded to the lowest "Tier 3" status in Washington's TIP report last year, along with Iran and North Korea. Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Don Pramadwinai, in his capacity as the chair of a sub-committee on public relations (PR) and human trafficking laws, expressed his confidence that Thailand's status in this year's TIP report should be better, citing the Thai govenment's systematic operations and more efficient solutions to human-related issues, which have also been included on the national agenda for urgent actions.
