Police To Investigate Thais Visiting Daesh-Linked Social Media Sites

By Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa BANGKOK, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Thai police will continue investigating citizens who visit social media sites related to the Daesh terrorist group, says its deputy spokesman, Maj Gen Piyapan Pingmuang. He said the investigation would focus on their purpose in visiting the media sites linked to the group, despite intelligence information showing Daesh had not established any foothold in the country. "The police duty is to find out whether those (social media) users have links to the Daesh or not, maybe they just visit the social media pages," he told the media at the police heaquarters here Wednesday. Australian police launched a probe recently, and discovered about 100,000 Thai Facebook users had visited social media sites related to Daesh. The information was relayed to the Thai police during a meeting. -- BERNAMA
