Polish filmfest. to host 7 Iranian shorts, jury

TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (MNA) – Seven Iranian short films will be screened at Zubroffka Intl. Film Festival in Poland which hosts an Iranian filmmaker as part of its jury panel. With the help of Iranian filmmaker Ali Asgari, who will sit at the jury panel for the Zubroffka International Film Festival, seven Iranian short films will be screened at the Polish event. A graduate of the Berlinale Talent Campus 2013, Ali Asgari is known for his short film "More Than Two Hours" which was in competition in Cannes (2013) and Sundance (2014). His other film, "The Baby", premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2014. Ali’s latest short, produced in Iran "The Silence", premiered at Cannes this year. His short films have been screened at over 500 world film festivals, winning over 100 awards. Other juries for the festival include Joanna Łapińska (Poland), Carmen Gray (New Zealand), Andrius Blazevicius (Lithuania), and Luca Tóth (Hungary). The Iranian films scheduled for screening on December 8 include: “Gambler” by Karim Lakzadeh, “Disease” by Milad and Sajjad Sotudeh, “Struggle” by Masoud Hatami, “Cloudy Children” by Reza Fahimi, “Aram” by Freshteh Parnian, “Lady with Flower-Hair” by Sara Tayebzadeh, and “Wash Basin” by Jaber Ramezani. The 11thh edition of Zubroffka International Film Festival will be held on 7-11 December, 2016, in Poland.
