Political Affairs Undersecretary meets UN-Habitat Executive Director

New York, Sept. 23 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Maimunah Mohd Sharif, on the sidelines of the 77th session of UNGA. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed praised the cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, noting the national report preparation on the implementation of the new urban agenda, the launch of the executive summary of the State of Arab Cities 2020 report, and other aspects of partnership in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences in achieving development goals, the foremost of which is making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe and sustainable, and following up on the implementation of joint development programmes and projects in accordance with the strategic cooperation and sustainable development framework document signed between the Kingdom of Bahrain and United Nations agencies for the years (2020-2022).
