President al-Assad: Position of most European countries about events in Syria was detached from reality since the beginning

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday received a delegation of Italian MPs and politicians headed by Senator Paolo Romani. Talks during the meeting touched on the latest developments in Syria as the members of the delegation raised several queries related to situation on the ground, the political track, and the reconstruction. President al-Assad said that there are a number of positive developments despite the fact that the countries which fueled the war – mainly Turkey and the United States and its pawns – are still continuing their policies by hindering the full elimination of terrorism, making progress on the political track, and preventing the return of Syrians to their homeland. President al-Assad affirmed that the position of most European countries on what was happening in Syria was detached from reality since the beginning, and they continued down that path despite the major changes witnessed during the years of the war as they continued to pursue a policy that achieves the interests of the United States and its lobbies instead of working to achieve their own interests, stressing that European politicians and parties should determine the shape of Europe they aspire to and the role they want it to play. For their part, members of the delegation said that the unrealistic narrative promoted by media outlets to depict the events in Syria since the beginning of the war began to lose its effect gradually on the European public opinion, which in turn requires European governments to adopt a different policy based on reality, and not on what is promoted by the media.
