President Visits Flood Site In Karawang

Jakarta, Jan 21 (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono visits flood sites in Karawang on Tuesday afternoon, stated the President in a closed door meeting at the Presidential Office, Jakarta. During the meeting, the President pointed out that the disaster management team not only manages refugees but also the economic issues that have been potentially disrupted. The President pointed out that the purpose of his visit was to check how the refugees were managing as also to determine the impact of the floods on the rice plants that will affect the target harvest in early 2014. "How far has the water management in the rice fields affected the rice production?" he asked. The President visited refugees camps in the District Military Command (Kodim) 0604/Karawang and hear out explanations about refugee management. The President was accompanied by the Governor of West Java Ahmad Heryawan and the local officials. Reporting by Panca Hari.
