President Visits Tofu Plant In Sumedang
Sumedang, W. Java, Feb 3 (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reviewed the process of tofu making in the Palasari Tofu Plant located in Jalan Mayor Abdul Rahman, Sumedang, on Monday.
The President, accompanied by First lady Ani Yudhoyono, started his visitation sequence with the review at the plant, in Sumedang Regency.
At the tofu plant, the President and his entourage watched the manufacturing process of tofu, the specialty food of the region.
The President and the First Lady were given an explanation by the plant owner, after which, they had a dialog with the employees about the making of tofu. The President asked them several questions in order to clarify his doubts, including the time taken for the complete process from soymilk to tofu.
The President also participated in a number of manufacturing processes, such as pouring the soymilk and cutting out the ready tofu.
Meanwhile, the First Lady tried her hand at frying the ready tofu, and she offered the fried tofu to the members of the entourage.
"It is delicious," remarked the President after tasting the tofu.
The Palasari Tofu Plant produces 10 thousand pieces of tofu every day. Each piece is priced at Rp600 at their store.
After reviewing the process of tofu making, the President visited the General Hospital in Sumedang. At the hospital, the President reviewed the outpatient department and dialysis facilities.
The President and the First lady then visited Een Sukaesih, an informal educator with a physical disability, in the Batu Karut Hamlet, Cibereum Wetan Vilage, Cimalaka District, Sumedang Regency.
The President and his entourage then headed to Majalengka Regency.
