Private Radio Station In Peru To Spin Popular, Patriotic Malaysian Songs To Welcome PM Najib For APEC
From Leslean Arshad
LIMA (Peru), Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysians living in Peru and all over the world will be able to enjoy patriotic and popular songs in Malaysia for an hour through a popular Peru radio station, Filarmonia 102.7 fm, from 9am (10pm in Malaysia) on Nov 18, in conjunction with the arrival of Prime Minister Najib Razak for the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC), here.
Malaysian Ambassador to Peru, Chuah Teong Ban said the special segment was due to the close relationship between the embassy and the popular private radio station in Peru.
"The songs selected for the segment are those close to the hearts of Malaysians," he told Malaysian journalists here Wednesday.
Among songs expected to be aired are Warisan and Tanggal 31 by Sudirman, Getaran Jiwa (P.Ramlee), Jaga Dia Untukku (Siti Nurhaliza), Anak Kampung (Jimi Palikat), Terukir di Bintang (Yuna) and patriotic songs like Jalur Gemilang and Keranamu Malaysia.
Apart from enjoying the songs through the 102.7 fm frequency in Lima, listeners can also enjoy the songs via the internet by surfing www.filarmonia.org
Najib is expected to arrive in Peru on Thursday for the APEC Summit scheduled on Nov 19 and 20.
APEC, founded in 1989, is a forum for 21 Pacific Rim countries that seeks to promote the liberalisation of trade and investment, facilitate business and promote economic cooperation and achieve prosperity among member economies.
Peru, as the host of Apec 2016, has chosen "Quality Growth and Human Development" as its theme.
Chuah said it was the fifth time that the embassy and the radio station were involved in such a segment throughout this year.
