Qatar to Launch Anti-Corruption and the Rule of Law Center Sunday

Doha, December 07 (QNA) - HE the Attorney General Dr Ali bin Futais Al Marri has announced that launch of 'Anti-Corruption and the Rule of Law Center' in Doha in partnership with the United Nations. The Center will be a serious and sustained cooperative mechanism in order to back relevant initiatives in Qatar and the Arab countries and even in other countries in the world, Al Marri added, saying 'this will be in collaboration with our partners in the international organization, particularly the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.' The opening ceremony of the Center is scheduled for next Sunday and will attended by a number of international figures, notably UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The Attorney General underscored in this regard Qatar's full support for the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and its support for all relevant regional and international initiatives, such as the Arab Network for the Promotion of Integrity and Combating Corruption, the International Society of Anti-Corruption and the International Academy of Anti-Corruption. This came in a speech by HE the Attorney General gave on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day, which falls on 9th of December each year. He also noted that the State of Qatar's commitment to support efforts aiming at combating corruption and to honor the anti-corruption principles is a firm conviction that there is a need to work on the activation of these efforts not only in the Arab region but also worldwide. Al Marri stressed that there is no tolerance in dealing with this destructive phenomenon that has become an international one that may require a joint, strong and decisive action to correct the path even if it takes some time."
