QU Graduates First Batch of College of Medicine

Doha, August 25 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) successfully graduates first batch of College of Medicine (CMED) member of QU-Health. The first batch of graduates included 46 male and female students, who completed six academic years, and received theoretical and applied medical sciences according to the highest standards. On the occasion of graduation, Dr. Egon Toft, Dean of College of Medicine said, "Today, the dream of graduating the first batch of the first national medical college in Qatar has been fulfilled. Since the opening of the college in 2016, we have been striving to achieve our goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 to graduate qualified doctors for the renaissance of the country." "Doctors, congratulations on this great achievement. You have put yourselves in the front lines to face challenges and achieve achievements in the field of health and medicine for the advancement of the nation," Dr. Egon added. In turn, the graduates expressed their happiness after six years of hard work, stressing their determination to continue giving and developing their capabilities to serve the health sector in the country. Earlier this year, the first batch of graduates joined Hamad Medical Corporation to complete their training under the Postgraduate Medical Residency Program, which is part of the students' educational journey to become highly specialized and independent medical practitioners. The College of Medicine aims to make contributions to medical education, patient care, medical research and community outreach and is fully aligned with Qatar’s national strategies in Education and Health, as well as Qatar University’s strategic plan.
