RI, Timor Leste Border Midwives Undergo Training On Information Technology

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, March 21 (Antara) - Some midwives at RI-Timor Leste border in Timur-Tengah-Utara District are given a training on information technology (IT) by Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid). The training is a form of attention from government and NGOs to provide knowledge about IT to midwives at the border, IT Program Coordinator Stefanus Bere said here on Thursday. He said, midwives could utilize the knowledge and experience in the training to monitor mothers and children health by online media. Thus, the training could support Maternal and Children Health (MCH) program to reduce maternal and infant mortality in the island. Bere said that IT knowledge would support midwives performance and duty to implement MCH program. "IT knowledge is a basic need and it will help to improve the performance of midwives," he said. He explained that the IT training involving 52 midwives in 25 community health center (puskesmas) who manage MCH program in North Central Timor District. Bere expected that result of the training will facilitate duties of midwives who manage MCH program in puskesmas to be more easily, quickly and precisely to process MCH development report in their area. "So far, the reporting was done manually, so it is always done too late. We expect by using IT, it can be more easily and quickly to be reported," he said.
