Royal pledge to achieve national project together with Bahraini people

Manama, Feb. 14 (BNA): Marking the 15th anniversary of the National Action Charter (NAC), His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Sakhir Palace today members of the royal family, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The royal family members extended to HM the King heartfelt congratulations on the national occasion, lauding the kingdom's civilisational and development achievements in various areas. They also commended the tremendous royal efforts to bolster relations with brotherly and friendly countries, consolidate Bahrain's honourable stances and promote its Arab and international status. Addressing the audience, HM the King paid tribute to the Bahraini people for their patriotic stances and consensus on the fundamentals of national work. He said the National Action Charter ushered in a new era of comprehensive development based on a vision endorsing the democratic approach as an alternative to boost popular participation. He described the charter as a milestone in Bahrain's contemporary history to follow on the footsteps of the forefathers who made enormous sacrifices for the sake of national sovereignty and glory. "Celebrating the National Action Charter anniversary is a celebration of the success of the national march to which the Bahraini people contributed," HM the King said, stressing the role of the charter in boosting the political rights of Bahraini women and empowering them, setting up the bicameral parliament, consolidating the constitutional and legal institutions as well as cementing the national fundamentals. He praised the national institutions and the effective national role of the executive, legislative and judicial branches in mapping out policies to boost citizens' welfare. HM King Hamad paid tribute to the brave Bahraini armed forces for being part of the Saudi-led Arab coalition and for their remarkable role in defending the Arab nation and legitimacy in Yemen. He also commended the tremendous sacrifices of the public security and National Guard personnel to maintain security and stability in Bahrain, paying homage to those who sacrificed their life to defend Islam and the homeland. HM the King paid a visit to the National Action Charter monument where he was welcomed by Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi, senior officials, students and members of the administrative and educational staff of public and private schools and universities. HM the King expressed happiness about the students' participation in the celebration which embodied national unity and the historic voting on the National Action Charter by a sweeping majority of 98.4% of the Bahraini people. He thanked the Education Minister and the audience for their patriotic sentiments which, he said, "will remain a symbol of unity of the Bahraini people". On his part, the Education Minister extended thanks and gratitude to HM the King, praising his constant care and support to Bahraini youngsters, being the bulwark of the nation. He also reiterated the Education Ministry's unwavering resolve to continue translating the National Action Charter values into a reality by carrying out development projects to further upgrade the educational sector and output. It is to note that the Education Ministry organised a major celebration at the National Action Charter monument from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with the participation of around 6000 students from public and private educational establishments to mark the 15th anniversary of the National Action Charter.
