Russian and Japanese border guards to hold joint drills off Sakhalin coast in July

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, March 13. /TASS/. Russian border guards and Japanese coast guards will hold joint drills off the Sakhalin coast in July 2015, the press service of Russia’s Border Service in the Sakhalin Region spokesperson Irina Shebeko told TASS on Thursday.
"This information was confirmed at a meeting of experts from Russia’s Border Service of the Federal Security Service in the Sakhalin Region and Japan’s Coast Guard," Shebeko said. "The participants discussed the issues of upcoming joint drills, which are planned to be held in the Aniva Bay in the Sakhalin Region in July 2015," she added.
The specifics of the exercise are being discussed. Similar drills were last held in 2010. "Then, participants practices joint actions on rescuing people in water, freeing hostages and fire-fighting," Shebeko said.
