Speaker participates in GCC meeting

Muscat, Sept. 21 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal participated in the 16th Periodic Meeting of the GCC Speakers of the Shura Councils, Council of Representatives, the Federal National Council, and the National Assembly. Zainal affirmed that cooperation between GCC members is an important part of Bahrain's national identity. She praised the historical relations between all members which reflect the sincere will to continue working to implement progress in the political and economic fields, and raise the level of partnership towards major issues related to security and stability, sustainable development, combating terrorism, extremism, and spreading tolerance and peace. " As the legislative branch of Bahrain, we are enlightened by the visions of His Majesty the King, in aligning with the Gulf consensus based on upgrading the economic unity, strengthening joint development programs, unified defense and security efforts, and coordinating positions to enhance solidarity, security, stability and unity of the GCC countries, and rejecting all forms of interference in its internal affairs," Zainal said. The speaker presented initiatives within the framework of consultations between the heads of GCC parliaments, calling to present them on the constructive dialogue table to come up with an integrative vision that serves joint action.
