Strong Earthquake Strikes Banda Sea, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the Banda Sea, Indonesia at 8.17am Wednesday. The Malaysian Meteorological Department said the epicentre of the quake was 456 kilometres south west of Ambon, Indonesia and 1,718 kilometres south east of Semporna, Sabah. However, the quake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
