Technical Advisory Committee on Water Resources Formed

Doha, March 03 (QNA) - HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, who is also Chairman of the Standing Committee on Water Resources has issued decision No. (1) of 2012 setting up Technical Advisory Committee of the Standing Committee on Water Resources and defining its membership and functions A press release by Qatar General Electricity and Water Kahramaa said today that the decision is based on the minutes of the first meeting of the Committee, which was presided over by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry in the presence of HE Minister of Environment Abdullah bin Mubarak bin Aboud Al Me'edadi who is also Deputy Chairman of the Committee, HE Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Eng. Nasser Al Mawlawi , Head of the Public Works Dr. Saleh Mohammed Al Nabit, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Development Planning, and Eng. Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, Chairman of Qatar General Electricity and Water (Kahramaa) . At the first meeting of the Committee, HE. Dr. Al Sada underscored the importance of maintaining the water resources of the state and meet the challenges of water to achieve water security for Qatar and meet the future requirements for sustainable development under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. For his part, Eng. Essa Hilal Al Kuwari said that the sustainable management of water resources represents a strategic choice for achieving sustainable development , adding that water conservation is a responsibility of the state and society alike, and require coordination with all parties. The committee shall provide technical advice, data and continue to conduct research and technical studies for any of the matters within the jurisdiction of the Committee as well as review the programs and projects referred to it by the Committee beside coordinating the activities relevant to the implementation of plans for water resources and finally the preparation of the Quarterly Report of the Committee which will be referred to the Cabinet. The Standing Committee of Water Resources was formed as per the Emiri decision No. (19) of 2011.(QNA)
