Thai DPM arrives in UAE for three-day visit
ABU DHABI, February 23 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a three-day visit to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and sign agreements on security and investment cooperation.
Accompanied by his entourage, General Tanasak arrived in Abu Dhabi, UAE's capital, on Monday afternoon (local time).
General Tanasak's visit to UAE, scheduled for February 23-25, is also aimed at boosting bilateral relations and cooperation between Bangkok and Abu Dhabi, especially on energy, trade, investment, tourism and academic work.
The Thai deputy prime minister and foreign minister later met UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to discuss comprehensive partnerships between both countries.
Besides, both sides signed agreements on security cooperation and investment promotion and protection.
Thailand and UAE have had close ties and cooperation for 40 years since they established their diplomatic relations in 1975.
Bilateral cooperation has been growing, especially in the areas of trade, investment, energy, labour and tourism, including health one.
UAE is Thailand's most important trading partner in the Middle East. (TNA)
