Thailand’s Free Train And Bus Services for the Poor Extended until Next April
BANGKOK, Nov 1 (TNA) - State-run State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) have decided to extend their free services for the poor until April 30, 2016.
Free services by both state –run agencies expired on October 31, but they decided to extend free services for another six months.
SRT said poor people could use third-class services on 160 trains daily.
Meanwhile, Pranee Sukrasorn, acting director of BMTA, said senior executives of the bus agency had sent a circular letter to BMTA board to extend to extend free services until next April 30.
The Transport Ministry which supervises both agencies is due to seek approval from the cabinet during its weekly meeting on November 10. (TNA)
