Train services in Thai far South resume after 3-day suspension

NARATHIWAT, THAILAND, November 21 (TNA) - Train services in Thailand's violence-plagued far South have resumed, after a temporary suspension following a bomb explosion last Sunday which heavily damaged rail tracks in affected areas in the southern border region. At a central train station in Yala province, for instance, passengers have gradually returned to use the local train from Yala to Sungai Golok in the southernmost Narathiwat province and vice versa, as part of the Hat Yai-Sungai Golok route, although only some passengers were seen at the station on Wednesday morning. The situation was similar at the Sungai Golok train station in Narathiwat, as only a small number of people knew that the local train has resumed its normal operations, amid tight security measures.
