Turkey's Ambassador Visits The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate And Praises Its Distinguished Role At Local, Regional And Int'l Levels

Baghdad / NINA / - The head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, President of the Federation of Arab Journalists, Muayyad al-Lami, received at the Syndicate's headquarters, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Riza Güney. Al-Lami gave a detailed explanation of the nature of the work of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and its branches in Iraq and its continuous efforts in defending journalists and guaranteeing their rights, as well as holding training courses that contribute to developing their capabilities. A statement by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate quoted al-Lami as saying that the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate has distinguished relations with Turkish journalists who constantly attend conferences organized by the Syndicate, as well as the distinguished relations between the Iraqi and Turkish peoples, calling on the Turkish ambassador to take into account Iraq's concerns regarding water, especially as it needs agriculture that represents an important issue in the current international circumstances. For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey expressed his happiness at visiting the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and praised the active role and distinguished position occupied by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate with media institutions, stressing the importance of the meeting in strengthening and developing Iraqi-Turkish relations at all levels. The Turkish ambassador expressed his readiness to provide all possible facilities to grant journalists entry visas to Turkey in coordination with the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate. He said that the Turkish authorities are keen on the issue of water supply that Iraq needs./End
