Turkey's president visits Zayed University and Masdar City in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI (A.A) - January 30, 2012 - Turkey's president visited on Monday Zayed University and "Masdar City" in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). President Abdullah Gul chatted with the rector of Zayed University, deans of faculties and a group of students and later visited the construction site of the first ecological city in the world-- "Masdar City". "The United Arab Emirates is dealing with the future, not today, and this makes the biggest difference," Gul told reporters.  Gul said the UAE was establishing the city of 30-40 years later.  President Gul said Turkey attached great importance to renewable energy, Turkey and the UAE could further improve cooperation in that area.  Situated 17km from downtown Abu Dhabi, Masdar City is a high-density, pedestrian-friendly development where current and future renewable energy and clean technologies are showcased, marketed, researched, developed, tested and implemented. The construction will end in 2015 and almost 50,000 people can live in the city.  Masdar City is expected to cost about 22 billion USD.
