TURKISH CARPET MANUFACTURERS EXPECT OVER 1 BLN USD OF EXPORTS
GAZIANTEP (A.A) - 05.05.2010 - Turkish carpet manufacturers expect over 1 billion USD of exports in 2010.
The Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters' Association, based in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, said Wednesday that it aimed to raise its machine-made carpet exports by 25-30 percent in 2010.
"Our aim is to earn over 1 billion USD by the end of 2010," association chairman Selahattin Kaplan told AA correspondent.
Kaplan said exports to America rose the most in the first quarter of 2010.
The association earned some 794 million USD from machine-made carpets in 2008. This figure was down to 746 million USD in 2009.
However, the association's carpet exports were up 28 percent in the first quarter of 2010 and reached 185 million USD.
