UniMAP Delegation Visits Tea Plantation In Sri Lanka

From Adnan Jahaya NUWARA ELIYA (Sri Lanka), Dec 6 (Bernama) -- A University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP, a Malaysian public institution of higher learning) delegation on a fact-finding mission to Sri Lanka visited a tea plantation on Monday in this town nestled in the Central Highlands. The delegation, led by the Crown Prince of Malaysia's northernmost state Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, visited the Blue Field Tea Gardens PVT and was briefed on the technology employed to cultivate and process tea. The delegation, also comprising UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal and several UniMAP 2015/2016 Student Representatives Council members, had a close look at the operations at the factory manufacturing the tea of the popular Blue Field brand. The factory, located in the midst of the tea plantation about 1,200 metres above sea level, draws foreign tourists in large numbers. --BERNAMA
