UPEACE grants Honorary Doctorate to Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa

Geneva, Oct. 1 (BNA): The University for Peace (UPEACE) has granted the Honorary Doctorate to Secretary General and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, Shaikha Dr Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa. The celebration, held at the UN headquarters in Geneva, was attended by UPEACE Board of Trustees Chairperson, Former Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, UPEACE President Dr Francisco Rojas and representatives of the diplomatic corps. The honour affirms the key role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in promoting peace at the regional and international level as this doctorate is granted to influential scientists and specialists in the political and diplomatic fields regarding the promotion of peace. Shaikha Dr Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa is the first Arab woman to receive the Honorary Doctorate and the second Arab personality after the Secretary General of the Muslim World League Dr Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Isa, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The honor is an international recognition of the positive influence and active efforts of Shaikha Dr Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa in supporting international diplomacy, boosting friendship and cooperation between peoples and fighting hatred.
