US President's Policies Impact Mobility Industry

GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), March 2 (Bernama) -- The policies introduced by United States President Donald J. Trump's administration will impact three segments of the mobility industry (the business of moving people), says International Association of Movers president Terry R. Head. The three segments are private transfer, people relocating to another location on their own; the national account market where companies transfer staff across locations; and, the government market. "Private transfer market depends on immigration laws. National account market is determined by trade and home sales, nobody moves until people buy or sell homes. "The third one is government market. With Trump's attention on military, he is adding an additional 25,000 soldiers into the troop and 40,000 into the Air Force, with some soldiers moving overseas," Head said in his address at the 6th Annual International Mobility Convention (IMC) here Wednesday. Meanwhile, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in a press conference said the mobility industry was important to the state as the island would continue to be a crossroads for cultural and economic exchange. "Mobility is important for Penang as we are a people-centric business, we have to attract human talent and human resources," he said, adding that human talent was the 'oil of the 21st century' and companies would be attracted to where human talent was. -- BERNAMA
