Vietnam Working With Malaysia To Clarify Information On Killing Of Kim Jong-Nam

HANOI, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Vietnamese authorities are working closely with Malaysia to clarify information relating to the killing of Kim Jong-nam, the elder half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported Foreign Ministry’s deputy spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Tra as saying. Vietnam was willing to cooperate with other countries in preventing and combating all kinds of crimes, she said in response to reporters’ queries on the incident and the arrest of a 29-year-old woman carrying Vietnamese travel document bearing the name Doan Thi Huong, for suspected involvement in the killing. Tra said that Vietnam strongly condemned criminal acts under any form and for any purpose. Thursday, Malaysian Home Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officially confirmed that the North Korean man, who died at the KL International Airport 2 on Monday was Kim Jong-nam, the estranged elder half-brother of the North Korean leader. Apart from the 29-year-old woman, police have also arrested a Malaysian man and another woman by the name of Siti Aishah, who was holding an Indonesian passport, to assist them in the investigation. Reports stated that Indonesian diplomats have met Siti Aishah and confirmed she is an Indonesian citizen. -- BERNAMA
