Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference Concluded

Doha, April 29 (QNA) - The Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference 2020-2021, which was organized virtually by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, in collaboration with Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, came to a close. Held under the theme "The Future Museum in the Future City," the Conference was attended by artists, researchers, museum practitioners, and curators from around the world It discussed -over three days- the future scenarios open to multiple possibilities, by stimulating critical thinking about what may arise in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. On the last day of the conference, the participants presented a set of research papers. Director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art Dr. Abdellah Karroum told Qatar News Agency (QNA) today that the conference, which is held for the third year, has succeeded in strengthening cooperation between the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, as it was able to communicate ideas and issues related to museums to the general public. At the same time, it affirmed the interest in the science of creativity and its integration into daily life, he said, stressing that the conference presented various and useful studies of museum work, which contributes to the development of museums as part of the cultural and educational facilities, and works to develop knowledge, ideas and skills of the work team and the development of museum collections as part of the cultural action. Co-organized byMathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, the Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference 2020-2021 was held during the period from December 2020 to April 2021. It examined the repercussions of the global pandemic, and how both the city and museum have been impacted by COVID-19. It also discussed the manners through which the museum and the city narrate this crucial moment of transformation, as and when it occurs. (QNA)
