VP Receives Chairman Of GGGI

Jakarta, Sept 16 (Antara) - Vice President Boediono received Chairman of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Lars Lokke Rasmussen at his office on Monday to strengthen cooperation between the government and GGGI. "I hope GGGI will cooperate not only with the government of Indonesia but also with the Management Institution for Green House Gas Emission Reduction from Deforestation, which has been recently established based on the Presidential Regulation No.62/2013," said Boediono. Head of the President`s Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4) and Chairman of the country`s REDD+ Task Force Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Wardana, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning Lukita D Tuwo, and GGGI Indonesian representative Anna van Paddenburg were also present at the meeting. In response to the vice president`s statement, former Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen extended his gratitude over the cooperation between the government of Indonesia and GGGI. He expressed his best wishes to the government on the formation of the Management Institution for Green House Gas Emission Reduction from Deforestation. The new institution is tasked to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, known as REDD+. "Congratulations on the formation of the new institution in the field of REDD+," said Rasmussen.
