Weather in the north and east of Kazakhstan remains difficult
Ust-Kamenogorsk, January 12, 2010 (Khabar) - More than 20 cars gor in the snow captivity in eastern Kazakhstan as a result of severe storms. At 55th kilometer of route Ust-Kamenogorsk-Kalbatau snowdrift was formed and trafficking was completely stopped in this direction. Rescuers, police, representatives of the district akimat arrived for the emergency site immediately. The road was cleaned and stuck cars were freed after some time, with the help of special equipment. Then they moved in the direction of Ust-Kamenogorsk, accompanied by the emergency services. The wind speed in the snow drifts reached 25 meters per second. There are no victims thanks to the coordinated actions and rapid response of necessary services. At the moment due to adverse weather conditions several roads of regional significance are closed in East Kazakhstan.
In North-Kazakhstan region temperature is currently down to -38 degrees. The region faces a strong snowstorm. In some places the wind speed reaches 20 meters per second. On the eve of 18 cars were in the snow blockade. 50 people were rescued thanks to the timely aid. All rescue services field work in emergency regime. Roads of national and local significance are cleared of snow and the traffic is not restricted. According to the forecasts of the local hydrometeorological center, cold and snow will continue in the coming days.
