West Java Police Seize 330 Kg Of Marijuana

Bandung, West Java, Oct 28 (Antara) - The West Java Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate arrested two drug traffickers and seized 330 kg of marijuana worth Rp990 million from a rented house in Bogor District, West Java Province, police officials said on Monday. The marijuana seizure was the largest made by the West Java Police this year, Narcotics Investigation Director of the West Java Police Senior Commissioner Hafriyono told the press. The two detained men were identified by their initials as EH and IS. Also, police are investigating a possible drug trafficking network responsible for the 330 kg of marijuana. In line with Law No. 35/2009 on illicit drug abuse, EH and IS could face the death penalty or life sentence if found guilty. Meanwhile, Kediri city police recently confiscated 8,915 metamphetamine pills and arrested two drug dealers, identified as AS, 19 years old, and YS, age 21. "We watched these two dealers for months before we arrested them. First, we raided AS`s rented room in Betet sub district where we found thousands of metamphetamine pills hidden under a bed," spokesman to Kediri police office AKP Surono said. According to the police investigation, the two dealers usually packed metamphetamine pills into small packages containing five pills each. The packages were then sold for Rp5,000. Police officials report that the investigation is continuing to determine whether more people are involved. Earlier, officials from the National Anti-Narcotics Body (BNN) Mariani said illegal drug use resulted in losses of Rp57 trillion to Indonesia this year, which is an increase compared to 2008`s loss of Rp25 Trillion.
