MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. The World Health Organization and the Russian Direct Investment Fund are in contact about approval for the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, despite the suspension of inspections, Melita Vujnovich, a WHO representative in Russia, told TASS.
"On-site inspections were scheduled to take place in March, but they were put on hold due to the suspension of flights to and from Russia," she said. "WHO headquarters and RDIF are in direct contact. All details will be announced by the Health Ministry and RDIF."
The WHO representative said that while the process is ongoing, the details should remain confidential. "The information will be made public as soon as the whole process is completed," she said.
The Sputnik V vaccine, which was registered in Russia on August 11, 2020, became the world's first officially recognized coronavirus vaccine. It’s currently approved in 71 countries.
