‘UN plays Iranophobia card in human rights issue’

TEHRAN,Nov.2(MNA) – The secretary general of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights said that the appointment of Ahmed Shaheed as the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran is part of the Iranophobia project. Mohammad Javad Larijani made the remarks during a meeting with Brazilian Ambassador to Iran Antonio Luis Espinola Salgado in Tehran on Tuesday. He described Shaheed’s appointment as a move beyond the framework of international human rights conventions and said the move is indicative of the fact that certain Western countries, led by the United States, intend to promote Iranophobia in the world. During the meeting, they also discussed the latest developments in the region as well as the ways to enhance Tehran-Brasilia ties.
