3-day Int’l Judicial Conference Begins In Islamabad

Islamabad, April 20, IRNA – A three-day International Judicial Conference, 2013 kicked off here at the Supreme Court Building on Friday. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who is also Chairman Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan/National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee inaugurated the Conference. The Conference was attended by the Foreign Dignitaries, Chief Justices of the Federal Shariat Court, High Courts, Judges of the Superior Court. District Judiciary, Attorney General for Pakistan, Advocates General, Members of the Supreme Court/ High Court Bar Associations, Eminent Lawyers/ Scholars, members of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. On the second day of the conference, the participants will assemble in nine different thematic groups with specified topics including, “Role of Judiciary in Developing World”, “The Rule of Law and International Peace”, Terrorism and Money Laundering”, “Public Interest Litigation”, “Role of Judiciary in Consumer Protection”, “Legal and Judicial Education”, “Alternate Dispute Resolution”, “Parental Child Abduction and Transnational Jurisdiction” and “Cyber Crimes”. During the session, papers will be presented by different speakers as different topics have already been assigned to them. This annual event aims at providing a forum to the stakeholders of justice sector to share experiences and evolve strategies for addressing the problems which are being faced by the judicial system./end
