3 foreign launches confined in Iranian waters

Kish Island, Hormuzgan prov, Jan 2, IRNA – A navy navigation commander announced Sunday afternoon that three foreign launches which had illegally entered the Iranian waters were apprehended. The launches belonging to the Persian Gulf littoral states had penetrated 12 kms into the southern Iranian waters illegally and were poaching, Colonel Rahim Jahanbakhsh said. He said the launches were tracking the endangered white shark in this region. Those arrested will be treated according to the Islamic Republic's environment protection laws, he noted. Kish navy navigation office carefully monitors the Persian Gulf waters to ensure security there, the commander added. 1378/IRNA
